Climate Change actions
KBTU students and staff are indicatively conducting projects related to Climate change action. Within the walls of the Kazakh-British Technical University in Almaty, the International Forum on Innovation and Modernization of the Use of Water and Energy Resources in Central Asia was held
The Forum considered opportunities for projects that bring together several Central Asian countries and address cross-border or regional needs. The recommendations developed at the workshops will be presented for consideration at the meeting of the Governing Council of the Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA).
Green energy
In 2021, the Kazakh-British Technical University, adhering to the UN SDGs, adopted the Declaration of the Green University Concept, the purpose of which is to create a platform based on the university in alliance with the industry and international universities partners for the accumulation of knowledge, the development of new technologies, the organization of innovation, the establishment of strong ties with leading experts and government agencies, whose initiatives would lead to the implementation and implementation of an environmental culture among students, employees and the dissemination of best practices in Kazakhstan.
Smart City
KBTU is implementing courses and projects in Smart City concept areas. Within the framework of the UN SDGs “11 - Sustainable Cities and Settlements”, “9 - Industrialization, Innovation and Infrastructure”, since 2022, KBTU has been operating the Smart City Laboratory, created jointly with the Digitalization Department of the Almaty Akimat and IGLUS companies (Switzerland). On the basis of the laboratory, trainings were held to improve the skills of employees of the Akimat of Almaty, the Urban Development Department of Almaty and representatives of other companies and government agencies involved in the creation of a Smart City in Almaty. The KBTU Smart City Laboratory plans to conduct trainings annually for representatives of companies interested in gaining practical knowledge on planning smart cities, power grids and other modules.
Supporting the Economic Empowerment of Afghan women through Education and Training in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan
Since 2020, KBTU has been participating in the project "Economic Empowerment of Afghan Women through Education and Training in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan". The project for the education of Afghan women in the countries of Central Asia is being implemented by UNDP in Kazakhstan with the financial support of the European Union. This initiative covers several UN SDGs: “4 - Quality Education”, “5 - Gender Equality”, “10 - Reducing Inequalities”, “16-Peace Justice and Strong Institutions”.
